Dr Satyadas performed gallbladder surgery on me recently. The operation was a success and I was very happy to be free from the pain post operation. Dr Satyadas visited me in the ward the day after the operation to see how my recovery was progressing. He was happy with my progress. The anaesthetist visited me a couple of hours prior to surgery and she commented that I was lucky to be receiving surgery that morning because the surgeon who would be operating on me is one of the finest surgeons that she has ever worked with. As you can imagine, that was good news to my ears. The gallbladder had been badly infected and I think that the surgery had been a bit of a challenge for the surgeon because when he visited me in the ward the following day he commented that the operation had been difficult because of the extent of the infection, in fact he remarked to me that it had been a "nasty nasty infection." I remember as I was waking up immediately after the operation, the anaesthetist said to me that the operation had been a difficult one as a result of the infection. I remained in hospital for three days post operation. When someone is lying in bed in hospital they have plenty of time to think about things and something kept coming to my mind about when Dr Satyadas visited me in the ward the day after the op. There was something different about this man, there was something special about him, he has such a lovely personality and the key thing that I noticed was that he actually genuinely cares for his patients and for their recovery. I had a follow up appointment with him in his outpatient clinic three weeks later and it was then that I realised in full just how special this man actually is. He has an aura around him that simply makes you feel good just by being in his company. He was delighted when he checked my scars and found that they had completely healed and that I was pain free and fully recovered. Occasionaly, at different times in my life, very special people have crossed my path and they have had an enormous effect on me without them even knowing it and I've never forgotten any of them.. Dr Satyadas is the latest special person to have crossed my path and he wont be forgotten either. As for the anaesthetist, she chatted with me in the theatre because I remarked that I was feeling nervous. She was simply incredible at making me feel comfortable while waiting for the surgeon to arrive. I know that both of these special people would say that they were only doing their jobs. They were doing much more than that, they were caring for me and you have to know something about love in order to do that. I'm just glad that they know something about love. Kind Regards James Stephens
