I saw Mr Siva today and I was very worried about the procedure, to remove built up wax in both my ears . Previous visits to Scarborough Hospital to have this carried out, had not gone down so well, so as you can imagine,I was fearing the worst. From walking into the Consultation room, the Doctor made me feel at ease and I felt reassured and he also gave me the feeling that I was being listened to. I was under the impression that the appointment was a clinic type and that no procedure would take place that day, apart from looking into my ears etc and perhaps arranging a future time to go in and carry out any necessary things later. After Mr Siva had discussed my previous visits and what his colleagues had said etc, he asked me very quietly, if I would be prepared to let him remove some of the wax that he had looked at . I wasn't prepared for that question and was some what taken aback, however, I said ok so long as he took it slowly and would stop things if it became too uncomfortable, he kindly agreed and we started. I need not have worried at all because he decided to remove the wax without the suction method, saying that occasionally it can cause dizziness and he knew that I was suffering with bad symptoms at the time of the appointment. With the aid of a wonderful nurse, they cleared one ear and then moved onto the second one, causing me no issues at all. That particular day I was feeling very poorly, as I was recovering from 2 recent Hospital stays for a severe chest infection, so I wasn't at my best, in fact I nearly didn't go that day. On reflection I'm so glad I did.!! Meeting Mt Siva and his nurse was the best possible outcome for me and my troublesome ears. Well done, you are an asset to your profession.
