I had been in agony for many months with osteoarthritis in both knees, prior to seeing Mr Mahmud. I was unable to walk unaided and my life was on hold. Mr Mahmud was very patient and helpful - he explained to me the options available and discussed them with his colleagues also so as to arrive at the best mutually agreed course of action. It was decided bilateral Uni-compartmental knee replacements was the best option - so partial replacement of both knees at the same time. The surgery was a complete success and extremely tidy. After several weeks following the surgery I no longer had need of crutches or even a walking stick. I write this almost 2 years on and I have had no need of a walking stick since and no pain whilst walking - my life has changed so much for the better. I now regularly walk 3-4 miles without issue. My experience throughout with Mr Mahmud and the Orthopaedic team has been excellent and I cannot thank them enough. From Mr Mahmud himself through the excellent ward and it's staff where I was based to the comprehensive physiotherapy support during and following my brief stay in hospital for the operation. Thank you, Jonathan Hopkins.
