I am a seventy nine year old who has always tried to keep fit and active, but for three or four years prior to the operation I had experienced regular disabling knee pain and deteriorating balance, curtailing my movement and resulting eventually in frequent stumbles and embarrassingly / disappointingly two or three actual falls. One year ago Mr Stephen Guy was the surgeon who, in my judgement, with total success, replaced my left knee joint. This enabled me to quickly regain, and maintain, after about two months or so of regular (not easy) exercising, virtually pain and discomfort-free use of the limb and a return to being able to walk, climb stairs, drive, and, with some slight adaptation, do most things comfortably , confidently and efficiently. In pre-op and post op consultations I found Mr Guy to be an approachable, clear, concise, insightful and caring communicator. He was keen to fully yet efficiently evaluate my medical condition, needs and expectations. He advised me of options and illustrated these as necessary, making me confident that each consultation was a fully two way process and feel that I had been considered as me, an individual at all times. In summary I would not change anything, having total confidence in Mr Guy and his team along with the belief that this high level of skill, care and consideration would be extended to any and all their patients.
