I was admitted to East Surrey Hospital as an emergency, and subsequently came under Mr Monkhouse's team. My care throughout was extremely good , and I was finally put forward for surgery. Mr Monkhouse performed the operation, and although I later learnt it was not the most straight forward surgery, my recovery was quick and without complication. Mr Monkhouse at all times explained in simple and very detailed ways exactly what was going to happen. He even took the trouble to telephone me in the Day Care Unit as he was tied up in theatre and knew that I was waiting to go home - a gesture very much appreciated, especially as he also explained that he had photographed my "offending" gall stone had emailed it to me. My final appointment was last Friday for my post op check and discharge. Once again the whole procedure was explained. The atmosphere was very relaxed with quite a bit of humour thrown in. It has been a pleasure to be treated by Mr Monkhouse who was always very professional, but also very approachable, and seemed to always make time to talk. I would highly recommend him as an excellent caring surgeon, and I am delighted that he was my surgeon. I have no suggestions for improvement - my whole experience was exceptional.
