After having glandular fever and ongoing abdominal pain, a very large splenetic cyst was found. I was referred to Mr Monkhouse for treatment. The cyst was drained but sadly returned to its size very quickly so Mr Monkhouse performed a laparoscopic splenectomy. Before my surgery he warned me that due to the size of the cyst and my enlarged spleen, there was a possibility he would have to do open surgery and a large incision across my stomach. Being only 19 this was a big worry for me so I was delighted when I woke up and found keyhole was successful. He went out of his way to make sure I was ok. He explained everything very well and in a friendly manner and the follow up care during my recovery has been superb. I would like to say a massive thank you to Simon for his ongoing care in getting me back to living a normal life.
