8th February 2019

8th February 2019 Mr Simon Lambert performed repair surgery to very severely damaged right shoulder rotator cuff ligaments some 11 years ago. The quality of the preoperative examination was precise and considerate; the actual surgical repair was prefect with 100% return to normal function; post operative supervision was superb. The shoulder function has remained totally functional ever since the surgery and I am able to perform previous sports with bow and arrow, swimming and shooting with no awareness that surgery has even been undertaken. Recently, I represented for treatment to Mr Lambert for left ulnar nerve entrapment producing cubital tunnel syndrome; the condition was investigated following neurophysiological conduction and muscle tests to my left hand. I had previously been advised that ulnar nerve repositioning surgery may be indicated as the correct treatment. After very careful examination in clinic, Mr Lambert determined that a very conservative approach would be the best way forward and that surgery would best not be considered at this stage. The conservative treatment measures he prescribed are proving successful and the condition will be reviewed in April 2019. In my opinion, Mr Lambert is the epitome of the perfect clinician. He provides extraordinarily successful surgery when the need arises, but also provides an accurate conservative management plan if the condition can best be treated conservatively. His professional, ethical and clinical excellence attributes are second to none and maybe considered as a role model for his students. He is sincerely sympathetic to his patients' condition and treats them as if he were treating his own family. He is a rare and fine doctor. I am a retired surgeon and do not make this reference to him lightly ... I am in his debt. RMD
