I met Mr Simon Jackson at his Private Clinic at the Manor Hospital. I had come across Mr Jackson ‘s name when I was contacted by Sharon Eustice as I had bought one of her Inventions the “Femmeze”. Sharon confirmed Mr Jackson’s reputation and I valued her opinion. Sharon is also Nurse Consultant at the Cornwall Foundation Trust, I also found his profile on the internet and was looking forward to meeting him. I found him to be direct and honest. He looks directly at you when he speaks to you or is explaining a diagram or method. I told him I was a bit anxious about mesh and all the negative things I had read about. He replied with “you only ever hear the negative things, never the positive. He explained the percentage of risks which I considered to be low. Most of all, apart from his reputable skill and expertise he listens intently to what you have to say and is reassuring. He has an easy manner with people and patients alike. He explained that you walk to the Theatre where they insert a cannula, check blood pressure and give you some oxygen next thing I knew I was in recovery and being monitored. All the doctors, nurses, physios and staff were attentive, encouraging patients to move their legs on waking up, deep breathing exercises, wearing of compression stockings for at least a week, keeping on the move to avoid dvt’s. The patient also needs to listen, remember, and act on all they have been advised to do. Have a comprehensive record of your medical conditions, previous operations, procedures, medications etc to hand to help with diagnosis, procedure and recovery.
