I had total knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago. Mr Trikha said that for the first 6 weeks I would hate him and everything I read on the web reinforced this so I went into the operation with a great deal of trepidation, not looking forward to the pain I was expecting to experience over the next 6 weeks. I couldn't have been more wrong. Although the operation was considerably more industrial in terms of noise than I was expecting it went very smoothly on a Tuesday evening and I was home by Friday lunchtime. The level of pain I was expecting never materialised and I cut back dramatically on the pain killers that I was taking at the end of week one and stopped completely after week 2. I also gave up using crutches at the end of week 2 and a walking stick after week 3 and am now walking up to a mile a day. I stuck religiously to the exercise regime and daily walks and find that my mobility has improved significantly, I am doing everything I did before the operation but without the old levels of pain. Far from being a difficult 6 weeks I have found it really easy and whilst not totally pain free I would describe it as minimal
