Running for a train before Christmas I leapt for an open door and in so doing, ripped up my Quadriceps tendon in my left knee, Retinacula ligament and other associated muscles. Falling onto my right knee, I managed a Maisonneuve fracture of the right fibula which drove down into my ankle doing even more damage to that. Proper job. I was discharged from a major London A&E and told to report to my local fracture clinic (the following week), without a diagnosis on either leg. Unable to stand, let walk, I was carried to a taxi while my wife frantically rang around trying to establish who to see. Paul Trikha was the recommendation and he interrupted his surgery schedule that morning to see me. Within a minute he told me what he thought was going on, confirmed very shortly afterwards by X-ray and then subsequent MRI scans. His manner and dare I say humour were unbelievably reassuring. We agreed that Skiing in March was a long shot but he encouraged that as a target anyway. He quickly recommended surgery for both injuries at the same time, in part to reduce the recovery time. This happened on his next scheduled day which must have been a timing nightmare and I was discharged the next, being able to negotiate stairs (very slowly!). Subsequent follow up has been in the same vein. Quick, efficient good humoured and professional. Liaising with the recommended physiotherapist has been an added bonus, especially because of the very different nature of the injuries. Recovery is ongoing but I am now back to commuting and working full time - oh and I did manage to X-Country ski in March, in the Alps. Thank you Paul!
