I broke the anterior cruciate ligament of my left knee some months ago. I have BUPA insurance and Mr Paul Trikha was recommended to me. He examined me and, after a few minutes, I had an appointment for an MRI for the next day. And another appointment, with him, for the day after that to see the results. He explained me my options and operated on me shortly afterwards. The surgery was short, it took 40 minutes. The recovery was also shorter than I thought, on the same day I was walking with crutches and the next day I was sent home. During the whole process I suffered very little pain, before and after the surgery. I took ibuprofen because I was told to, not because I needed it. Mr Trikha recommended me to rent the ice machine Game Ready for one month after the surgery. I wasn't sure if it was worth the price instead of using the traditional bag of frozen peas. But, after using it, I think it does make a difference. It kept the temperature of the knee constant for long periods of time, although we had to come up with ways of generating lots of ice. During the first month I was most of the time connected to the Game Ready, only stopping to do some exercises. Paul also recommended physiotherapist Tom Williams, from active8rehab. With his help, doing exercises from cycling to going to the gym, the knee has been getting stronger every day. I think it is stronger now than it was before the surgery :), even though there are still a couple of months until the recovery is complete. I can only praise Paul and Tom. I am very happy to have done the surgery. I dedicate quite a lot of time to recover the knee, going to the gym 3 times a week and running twice a week, but it has been better than I expected and with very little pain.
