I tore my ACL in a skiing accident and went to see Mr Trikha to discuss my options. The appointment lasted barely 10 minutes and I felt as though I was being rushed out of the room before I'd even sat down. He conducted a cursory examination of my knee without even removing my trousers, and said he could do the operation the following week if I booked on quickly. I asked whether I should delay the surgery to do "pre-hab" which from extensive research appears to be one of the strongest predictors of long term success and he dismissed it as not being particularly needed. It wasn't until I got home that I realised he hadn't even told me what the surgery would be! I booked in a follow up call in which he answered some more of my questions, but the entire call felt like an inconvenience to him and after about 5 minutes I was directed to ask anything more to his secretary. In summary, I did not feel cared for at all, I did not feel listened to, and I did not trust that he wouldn't simply rush the surgery to get it done as quickly as possible. In the end I chose a different consultant and couldn't have been happier. The other consultant spent over an hour with me, did a thorough examination, took me through all the options clearly and slowly and explained everything he would do.
