Scans confirmed that I had serious osteo-arthritis in my hip following an accident some years beforehand. So surgery was the only option. I'd had several visits to other specialists to fully explore all of the various hip replacement options available. I was very keen on the super-path method due to its minimally invasive techniques and as a consequence the short hospital stay & relatively rapid recovery times. In my search I contacted a specialist in the USA who was able to refer me to a surgeon in the UK that he had personally trained to perform this specific procedure. Upon further investigation I discovered that Mr Datir had also been trained in the super-path method. So I saw him privately and asked if this was a possibility for me. Mr Datir listened to my story and cutting a long story short agreed to perform the procedure. On the day of the operation Mr Datir told me that due to the very poor condition and lack of mobility in the joint there could be a problem and he may have to resort to a conventional approach. Luckily he managed to do it. It needed a slightly bigger incision (Still a lot smaller than a conventional one) and the operation was a success. Within 2 days I was on my feet and out of the hospital. My entire experience with Mr Datir was 100% positive. I have seen him twice since the operation and was formally discharged after just over a year. Mr Datir is a very caring person who is devoted to helping people. He listens, is very easy to communicate with and is extremely good at what he does. I'm now pain free (which made me a different person TBH), I can do most things for my age and cannot thank him enough for making such a huge difference to my life. He is a true gent. Also a big thank you to the nurses and physiotherapy staff at Castle Hill Hospital who were all absolutely fantastic.
