I had blocked tear ducts for several years and this had caused an unsightly lump under my right eye which was making me self conscious. My eyes were watery and frequently sticky and uncomfortable. I consulted Mr Salvi in late October last year and he advised that I needed bilateral DCR (dacryocystorhinostomy)with tubes. I was nervous about the procedure but Mr Salvi took time to explain it to me thoroughly and to answer my questions so I had no hesitation in deciding to proceed. The operation took place in December with an overnight stay; stitches were removed by Mr Salvi 10 days after surgery and the tubes after a month. The tubes were at times a little uncomfortable but nothing like as bad as I had feared and I needed very little pain relief after the op. I am very pleased with the results. My eyes are now comfortable and no longer watery, even in the recent very cold weather. The lump has gone completely and my eyes look normal again. Many thanks to Mr Salvi for his expert advice and skills and to the nursing team at Thornbury for their kindness. I would not hesitate to consult Mr Salvi again if I need help with eye issues.
