Following investigations into pain in both knees, I received a diagnosis of osteoarthritis caused by loss of cartilage in the joints. Knee replacements would have been imminent were it not for my age, as I am under 60. I experienced pain during normal activity and more extreme discomfort and stiffness, following extended periods of exercise or activity due to inflammation in the joints. Mr Jain offered a couple of options and I researched these carefully. With more focussed and knowledgeable advice from Mr Jain, I decided to have Arthrosamid injections into both knees at the same time and this was carried out by Mr Jain at a clinic in Paddington. The injections themselves are quite painful in their administration but it is done very quickly and is followed by a local anaesthetic, allowing for comfortable walking and independent travel after. I experienced extreme stiffness and discomfort a few hours after the injections were administered and was warned this was likely. The lack of movement gradually improved over the first two weeks and from week 2 to week 4 I felt at a similar stage to prior to the treatment. However, from week 4 onwards the flexibility and stamina of the knees have gradually improved and the discomfort I would have previously experienced in every day life and especially after extended exercise became less and less. I am now at 12 weeks which is deemed to be the period of time required to really feel the positive effect of Arthrosamid and I am happy I followed the advice of Mr Jain. It will be interesting to see how the next few months and years evolve but I am currently enjoying being able to do some of the things I love doing - walking, going to the gym, dancing, wearing heels and I even like running up and down the stairs again!
