I was nervous about having anybody fiddle with my eye, but Mr Petrarca started by asking me to explain what I was experiencing and then went to a lot of trouble to explain what the problem was and the options for fixing it. He didn't blind me with science, if you'll pardon the expression, but used simple explanations and drawing on a note pad he clearly kept specifically for such explanations. The op he recommended was exactly as he promised, simple, painless and, if anything, with a quicker positive result than I had expected. During the op, the theatre was calm and he treated his staff with courtesy and efficiency...there was no faffing around or mis-communications. He also took time to explain the whole process as it happened, making it sound like a walk in the park. That normality and ease of explanation and process reassured me and made the whole thing much more relaxing. I guess I might have been lucky....but it didnt feel like luck...it just felt like a well controlled, highly disciplined operation from consultation to the follow-up appointment four weeks after the op.
