Mr Petraca was informative and very efficient with a caring attitude. He explained the cataract surgery procedure and discussed the various options of new lenses allowing me to decide which was best for me. He was very professional in the operating theatre and performed the procedure with care and precision. I couldn’t ask for more. Aftercare consultation was thorough. Excellent all round.

I initially was having one cataract removed but the procedure was so painless, and successful, I decided to have my other eye done. Mr Petrarca, who carried out both procedures, did a fantastic job, talking me through what to expect, any concerns etc. Anybody having doubts about having cataract removal, I would urge them to do so. It's painless, quick and the outcome is absolutely fantastic. A huge thumbs up from me

From the first meeting I liked Mr Petrarca. He treated me as an equal, discussing and explaining the treatment and inviting questions rather than just telling me what needed to be done. He was more like a friend than a consultant. He examined my eyes and collected the information he needed to do the op. On the day of the op he came into the theatre waiting room and explained what the procedure would be like. He was most reassuring. The op itself was stress-free. After the op he came and told me how it had gone and gave me some post-op eye drops and advice and we had some general chat. Mr Petrarca’s personality made the whole experience a great deal more agreeable than I expected it to be. Mr Petrarca’s assistant Caroline was very knowledgeable about the whole process, answering my questions and being very cheerful, kind and helpful. Caroline even gave me her phone number and told me to ring her over the weekend if I had any issues.

I found Mr. Petrarca to be incredibly kind and reassuring, most efficient and friendly. At my first consultation, he was very clear about options available for different lens implants and how the cataract operations for both my eyes would be performed. When I was on the operating table (with local anaesthetic), I felt complete trust in his care of me throughout. Mr. Petrarca's assistant, Caroline, was available by phone both before and in the weeks after the operations which was also very reassuring. As I write this, I have just finished the course of eye drops following my second operation and now have brilliantly clear vision with no problems. I would recommend Mr. Petrarca unreservedly and have, indeed, already recommended his name to various friends with developing cataracts !

From the first Consultation with Mr Petrarca until follow up appointment after my second Cataract procedure, I received great care and enormous reassurance from both the Surgeon and Ashtead Hospital.
