Having suffered with painful bunions for many years I was referred to Mr Chana and was seen within 4 weeks from my initial GP referral. At the initial appointment I was greeted with a friendly smile and the full procedure was explained to me. Not only did he advise me on how the operation would impact on my everyday life but he looked at it with a holistic view with my own children in mind and how it would affect our family life. Having spent many years trying to minimise my awful looking bunions I finally felt that someone not only understood this but was willing to correct them. I was admitted to Dickens Ward at Ashford hospital 8 weeks later for a Scarf Osteotomy. I remianed in hospital for a little over 24 hours and I can honestly say thal all members of the team were polite, kind, empathetic and went above and beyong their call of duty. Managing the pain once home was a little hard at times but as the days passed further milestones were reached. I am now 6 weeks post op. I was very glad to lose the heel bearing shoe and resume a little more normality. Today I can drive again which has enabled me to regain full independence. Being a single mother of 2 young children and having this proecdure tested me but I can honestly say I now have one good looking foot and am looking forward to having a matching pair mid December when I embark on the next foot. As a member of staff for the trust and being a patient "on the other side" was eye opening. Mr Chana is a huge asset to ASPH NHS Trust and I will be recommending his services. Thank you!
