Written by a private patient

I have received four consultations with Mr Sundaram with two surgical procedures; one involving bilateral facet joint injections and the second, a full surgical procedure involving fusion, decompression with bilateral discectomy and decompression. Throughout each of the consultations, Mr Sundaram carefully explained the evidence from the MRI and X-rays with the ensuing choices that were open to me and their risks. He showed empathy and understanding of my dilemma of continuing as a private patient or joining the NHS waiting list. He was also happy to share and discuss the options with my son who accompanied me on the first occasion and even spoke to my son by phone on a further occasion. Before and after each surgical procedure Mr Sundaram met with me to explain the procedures in detail and answer all of my questions. Prior to my initial meeting with Mr Sundaram I had been living with increasingly severe levels of pain and discomfort for nine months: I was no longer able to participate in social or physical activities; my sleep and quality of life had deteriorated and I had been unable to obtain a diagnosis from my NHS surgery. Now after just six weeks post operation, my quality of life and levels of pain have already significantly improved. I feel that my operation has been very successful and this is entirely due to Mr Sundaram’s skill, care and diligence and also to that of his Team. I will always be grateful to Mr Sundaram for his excellent treatment and would highly recommend him to anyone requiring similar spinal remediation.
