Mr Rathnam Sundaram has transformed my life! After two slipped discs a number of years ago that appeared to have recovered without operations, I started to suffer increasing pain in both my legs with frequent extremely painful spasms in my leg muscles. I was on the maximum dose of painkillers, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Codeine and even these did not fully alleviate the pain. My problem had been initially diagnosed as PMR but a MRI scan of my spine showed I had severe spinal stenosis and I was referred to Mr Sundaram. From the moment that my wife and I met him we had absolute confidence in Mr Sundaram. He explained what my spinal problem was, what could be done to alleviate it and what the risks were associated with each option. We decided that I should have a full spinal decompression. In spite of the pandemic, which was now in full swing, Mr Sundaram managed to get my operation scheduled for the 8th September at the Gloucester Royal Hospital where he performed bilateral L2/3 decompression with right L2/3 discectomy and bilateral L3/4 decompression. It all went very smoothly and the following morning when I woke up, there was NO LONGER ANY PAIN in my legs! The site of the operation healed very quickly with minimal discomfort and my legs have got stronger day by day. I can truly say that my life has been transformed. Before the operation I could barely walk and had a life of constant pain – now I feel healthy, active and more than 10 years younger. The results that Mr Sundaram has achieved for me have shown that the trust that my wife and I put in him was entirely well placed. I could not have hoped for finer treatment from any other surgeon. Mr Sundaram is simply the best.
