My son had a Trauma injury to his index finger L hand, being L handed I was concerned as the X-ray showed no obvious #. He would need his hand for work throughout his life. I was told there was full range of movement of this finger, I as a mother knew this was not correct. On requesting to the orthopeadics Dr's in clinic for Mr Kavinde's opinion on the X-ray, Mr Kavinde tried contacting me personally within 48 hrs at home, he spoke to my son who was 13 yrs of age. Explaining he needed surgery and was provided with a theatre slot within 14days. Mr Jesudason carried out the procedure which was much longer than expected, due to a detached ligament and puncture of the joint capsule by a very small fragment of bone. On removing the fragment of bone and repairing the joint capsule, a dissolve able anchor was used to attach the ligament back in place. Not only was great skill used, no post op infection developed and full use of the finger was eventually gained. The O/T hand therapy unit within Ysbyty Gwynedd, Mr Jesudasons creation. Playing a vital role in rehabilitation with their mounded splints. Being made to fit individually, to each patients size and shape, ensuring adequate protection enabling mobilisation of required parts of the hand. What an excellent team and highly skilled hand surgeons we have in Ysbyty Gwynedd North Wales.
