In August this year I received spinal surgery in the form of a lumbar microdisectomy carried out by Dr Popa. This was a sport related injury which had become debilitating to my life including work and exercise, which I found to be a real struggle. I can now say that following the procedure performed by Dr Popa, I am fully recovered and through his expertise on the subject I feel as if I’ve been granted a new lease of life, returning to my regular active lifestyle, of which I’ve also felt the benefits mentally. Outside of the surgery itself, even during the consultation stage I always felt I was receiving the best care and advice I could, he was very informative on the subject and was able to regularly offer his opinion and advice on something which I was very inexperienced and unsure, but I certainly found his knowledge reassuring and when presented with two options on how to proceed with my injury, either via steroid injection or surgery. He was able to detail the perceived pros and cons of both methods to me clearly, helping me to reach a decision without uncertainty. I also want to give thanks to Dr Popa’s team and the surrounding staff at the Spire Hospital in Liverpool, as throughout this process the care I received was excellent including the physiotherapists, anaesthesiologists and nurses, all of which were extremely attentive throughout.
