Mr Thorpe operated on my spine on 9 October 2014. After the op I was in hospital for nearly 4 weeks and he regularly came to see me. Looking back I feel so grateful that it was him that performed the surgery. The op lasted for 7 hours and I believe that it was an extremely difficult operation and clearly a huge responsibility for him as it was performed so close to my spinal chord. Since then I have made super progress, no longer experiencing horrendous back pain. I can now touch my toes with straight legs. Mr Thorpe came across to me not only as an extremely competent surgeon but as a very kind man, working so hard to provide his patients with the very best treatment, courtesy and compassion. He is a wonderful example of the brilliant staff in Musgrove Hospital and I feel very priviledged that he was my surgeon
