I am very grateful to the care I received from Mr Thiruchelvam. After first going for a routine mammogram at Charing Cross Hospital in June, I first met Mr Thiruchelvam who diagnosed me with breast cancer. At first the procedure was to do a lumpectomy; from there I decided to use my health insurance and continue my treatment through King Edward VII. Although it was a lot to take in with the initial shock, I was so thankful that Mr Thiruchelvam was very thorough in all follow up tests, including an MRI, PET and CT scan. The MRI revealed that I had a mass, which then meant that my treatment would go from a lumpectomy to a mastectomy. This was a lot for me when Mr Thiruchelvam told me, but he was always so supportive and reassuring to myself and family who came with me. All concerns and questions were answered, and everything was explained thoroughly at each step of my treatment, that I felt confident that I was in excellent hands. I must also thank Michelle, who was so thorough and efficient in dealing with my appointments and lead up to my surgery. Also, I cannot thank the team in the breast clinic enough that I met along the way who continue to be supportive, you feel like you are treated like a member of a family rather than a number. Thank you, Neil who was professional, and reassuring during all my scans, Kathryn with my mammograms, Amelia and Helen who were both kind, reassuring and even came to check up on me in hospital after my operation and were very kind to call me and check how I was handling my diagnosis. Also, Jenny for all the support with physio. I am also grateful with the team that Mr Thiruchelvam worked with for my surgery, I had a lot of anxiety over the anaesthetist aspect of the surgery, but Dr Lawrence put me at so much ease and Mr Khan was exceptional in the reconstruction surgery. Also thank you to all the staff that cared for me at the King Edward VII hospital. Thank you again to Mr Thiruchelvam, an outstanding surgeon who is highly experienced, professional, and knowledgeable.
