Mr Shannak took on board that the most important factor in my complex total knee replacement was the functionality of my knee; for it to be as robust, reliable and flexible as possible within the constraints of the operation - that I was not unduly concerned about the ‘cosmetic’ outcome of my procedure. He made sure the fixings were specific to my particularly degraded knee - there had been a lot of internal deterioration to my natural knee and I am grateful that the replacement knee was the best fit possible. I was also thrilled that he managed to straighten out the severe angle to which my leg below the knee had become deformed. I would also like to mention and thank Mr Shannak’s secretary Sue Kirton who always handled any contact and appointments at the hospital with the utmost professionalism.
