Mr Nicholas Brooke

I had several spinal surgeries under the care of Mr Brooke and was really saddened to hear of the mistake/case against him. And whilst I do feel for the patient involved I can only talk about my own experience. Sadly he isn’t doing private surgery anymore and I really miss him, he was always very helpful, very professional and got me out of horrendous pain on several occasions. I have seen several surgeons since and none of them have helped me as much as he did

What a lovely and caring surgeon. I had many years of back problems and visited a few surgeons over a period of 15 years. He was the only one who listened to me and agreed to operate. Ive now been pain free for two years. After care was great. A true gentleman and great surgeon

I was operated on by Mr Brooke in June 2013 to remove a thoracic disc. Prior to surgery he did not even examine me, relied on an MRI from the previous year. During surgery a csf leak occurred . He made 3 attempts to mend the leak with a blood patch when these failed he totally lost interest in me. I was in a totally abulic state, incontinent, anorexic and immobile. he was never available, always on holiday or seeing his private patients. Only when my husband complained to the patient advisory and Liaison service did he appear. He allowed me to remain in hospital for 8 months then I was discharged home in the same abulic state. I lost 3 stone in weight, I lost my job and my husband had to give up his job to give me 24 hour care. He reluctantly readmitted me to Southampton General 14 months after the original surgery and performed surgery to seal the leak. This was ultimately successful. He is arrogant and uncaring and has had many complaints against him. I would never ever trust him again to do surgery on my spine. For the record I am no better than I was before the surgery in June 2013.

Mr Brooke is an absolutely incredible surgeon. He operated on my severe spinal problem and now I live pain free thanks to him and his team. A very talented and caring surgeon. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing. I was so scared before the operation but I was cared for in a wonderful way.
