I was referred to gynaecology from oncology as I was experiencing heavy bleeds on HRT medication. Mr Masood checked the position of my mirena coil and realised it was not in the correct position as it had become lodged under a fibroid, and explained he could attempt to move it but the procedure may be painful. He was incredibly gentle and I did not experience any pain whilst he did this or when he took a biopsy. I remarked upon how gentle the procedure was and the accompanying nurse said that was what other patients had said earlier that day. Since then I have had further follow up consultations with Mr Masood the most recent being today (17.10.23). Although the clinic was overrunning by about an hour I did not mind waiting as I realised this meant that Mr Massod was not rushing other patients but giving them the time needed for an effective consultation. Mr Masood listened intently to me, and explained that as I reported that the bleeds had stopped it meant the coil was working as it should and releasing the correct amount of progesterone. I was concerned what would happen when the coil came to the end of its licensed term and he said he would keep me on annual review which really reassured me as I am aged over 65 but was keen to remain on HRT as I have a family history of osteoporosis. I thoroughly recommend Mr Masood as being respectful, professional, empathetic and I am so relieved that I am going to remain under his care.
