I was referred via the NHS for invasive spinal surgery following an ongoing history of spinal issues and disc prolapse. Mr Stenning was extremely supportive. Yes I can see why other patients or families may interpret his manner as dismissive - but to me I found him very accommodating. It seems you might need to just ask the right questions and come to your consultations with a base level of informative knowledge (which we can all find with a quick Google search of conditions we are being treated for/ he treats) I was treated during surgery for two levels of L4&5/S1 disc prolapse which required microdiscectomy for both. I unfortunately developed an infection in the spinal space and was very unwell. Mr Stenning acted fast and admitted me without hesitation- cancelling some private patients to fit me in as an emergency at New Hall. During my extended stay on ward he was a regular face present in checking on my progress and was overall very kind to me. I’m never one to write a review and would never ever write anything misleading, but I do feel I owe Mr Stenning some positivity. Without his surgical input I would still be struggling to walk my child to the car, walk around the supermarket, be back to work full time. Sometimes we can’t expect perfection. Especially when our bodies and how they cope/react to things, are so very different. My final surgery was in Dec 2022 and I’m still completing some aftercare visits with Mr Stenning due to my case being unusual. Again; I can’t fault how he has acted toward or treated me in clinic. Like I said prior; just come with some knowledge and don’t be a area to question him.
