We found professor Elliott and his team to be fantastic. We were so grateful to be sent to such a specialised hospital where the entire team were so experienced. We had read up about professor Elliott before arriving at gosh so knew about the fantastic operations he had performed so felt at ease leaving our son in their hands. We were shown clear pictures and given full details of the plan for ethans operation. It was very reassuring meeting the surgeons and team before and after the operation. Once in icu the tracheal team and ward doctors constantly kept us up to date with how things were going, what they were planning to do next and what the outcome was after tests. The only issue we raised whilst in icu was that some of the nurses (not all) didn't tell us much about how they were looking after Ethan, for example we would sometimes have to ask what drug they were administering and why where as some nurses constantly told us what they were doing which we were preferred. As a parent in icu you are totally out of control of how your child is being cared for so it's nice to know exactly what's being done, even minor details. Professor Elliott decided that Ethan would benefit from a balloon procedure to reduce scar tissue before we went home and it made us at ease knowing that Ethan would not be discharged before being back to full health and prevent re admission. Overall the care has been fantastic,Ethan can have a normal childhood and it's all thanks to professor Elliott and his team at gosh.
