The incidental discovery of an 8cm diameter aortic aneurysm, leaving me obviously gravely at risk, was a great shock. I saw Mr Edwards within a couple of days and based on the limited options clearly explained, I opted for major surgery. The following weeks leading to surgery revealed the NHS at its joined up best with various tests, discussions and procedures carried out with professionalism and fully explained in context, recognising the obvious urgency.
The operation was apparently’textbook’ and following convalescence I have recovered all my fitness and am enjoying an active life to the full. My life expectancy has been turned around dramatically and I am truly grateful!
