Having had knee surgery 6 years ago (in Ireland), I was not looking forward to this operation. My last knee operation left me in considerable pain for over 5 months, I was using a walking aid for nearly 5 months. Mr Cope listened to my concerns, he fully explained my procedure and assured me that this would be a totally different experience. I felt I could fully trust him, and I felt comfortable about his expectations of how the surgery would go. My knee replacement operation was carried out on the 4 Jan 2021, when I woke up after surgery I was amazed how little pain I was feeling. This was down to Mr Cope explaining the different anaesthetics available, which helped me chose the epidural method. After 4 days there still was discomfort and pain but nothing like intense pain I had experienced before. After 4 weeks I was able to reduce to one crutch, after 5 weeks I was able to go up and down the stairs un-aided , by 6 weeks I was using a walking stick when I went for a walk. It has now been 7 weeks very little pain, still swelling which I had expected. Moving round the house without any walking aids, and walking to the local shops as well. I have followed Mr Copes advice to the letter, I can honestly say that he is a great surgeon, he reminds me of the type of great surgeons we used to have in the military. I would say anyone who is requiring the type of surgery I had, would be extremely lucky to have Mr Cope as their surgeon.
