Mr Bankes is the best in the business. Not only does he take great care to listen to your experiences and priorities as a patient, he factors them into your treatment - so if you love to cycle, for example, he will be super clear about when you can expect to do that again following surgery. He is enthusiastic about what he does, and that enthusiasm is infectious! You really do believe you are in the safest possible hands when you're admitted for surgery, and your belief is proved correct. I had impingement surgery and my pain had reduced by more than half within a fortnight. Absolutely incredible results. If, like me, you're nervous about the idea of surgery and it seems like too radical an option, do consider it if you've the opportunity to see Mr Bankes. Surgeons are not exactly renowned for their bedside manner, but Mr Bankes doesn't adhere to that stereotype - I found him warm, relatable, cheerful and good-humoured. He either makes fantastic notes or has a great memory, as he always remembers the small things about his patients, which makes you feel really valued. His secretary, Sharon, is also excellent and will go out of her way to help you. Wonderful experience from start to finish.
