I was admitted for emergency surgery with a perforated bowel in three places and peritonitis. I was blessed to be placed in the hands of Mr Akhtar to have a colostomy which left me with a permanent stoma.
On waking in ICU Mr Akhtar came to my bedside with his assisting surgeon and explained everything that had happened . I was hospital for 18 days and during that time Mr Akhtar and his team regularly came to see me .
On my return to home I reflected I was so lucky this wonderful man and his team saved my life , to which I am eternally grateful.
I've just had my six month appointment with Mr Akhtar and he was very thorough in checking me over, talked things over and asked if I bad questions. At no point did I feel rushed and once again I felt very cared for . On departing Mr Akhtar told me should I have any problems to contact the Stoma team and if need be he would see me .
I cannot recommend this wonderful man highly enough.
