My 13yr old daughter was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumour by Dr Shanmuganathan (Mano) at the end of June 2017. From our very first consultation it was clear we were in great hands. He is clearly passionate about his vocation and treated us both with the utmost compassion, understanding and explained to us exactly what would be involved with surgery and what to expect afterwards. What struck me most was how he always spoke to My daughter first, explained everything to her in terms she would understand. As a thirteen year old this approach formed an integral part of her recovery. When her tumour was diagnosed as cancerous she trusted Mano 100% that he would always be open and honest with her and was reassured that she was fully involved in her care. This gave her such a positive outlook and she just knew she was in great hands. Mano’s surgical skill, kind nature, fabulous communication and huge smile goes a long way when you are dealing with what should have been a traumatic experience for a 13yr old. As a mother I owe him so much and I am so grateful for his top class care of my daughter. He’s a very special man and I’m eternally grateful for the difference he has made in our lives.
