I was referred by my GP to Mr KT in August 2021 for an inguinal hernia repair. I am an active 70 year old. In 2002 I had had a radical prostatectomy, and in view of this Mr KT recommended an open repair, and advised that this was a safer course, rather than encounter possible scar tissue difficulties with keyhole surgery. His advice was that the recovery period for both types of surgery was broadly the same, so very little to lose. The open operation was carried out on 24/11/21, precisely according to Mr KT’s predicted timetable, (and much sooner than I had expected) and without any problems.
Following the 4-6 week advice for resumption of activities, and having healed without any discomfort, I was able to get back to golf and tennis after 5 weeks. Very grateful to Mr KT for his professional and caring assistance…..and the upshot is that traditional open surgery should not always be avoided in favour of laparoscopy.
