I saw this Doctor at an NHS Fracture Clinic. I had been given a cast on my leg the week before which I felt was uncomfortable, probably broken and just aggravating me. The doctor immediately put me at ease by saying “don’t worry, I treat patients not X-rays, so let’s have a look at you and I’ll tell you what I think”. He asked me a number of questions which made me feel that he took the time to understand my life, what I do of a daily basis and how his treatment plan would affect me. He conducted a very gentle physical exam of my ankles and asked me to complete a number of exercises. I had an expectation of what my ideal outcome of the appointment would be, and thankfully, the doctor gave me the news I wanted. “you have healed remarkably well and I will sign you off without a cast”. I expect he knew that’s what I wanted to hear. He gave me advice on how to help the healing process and referred me to Physiotherapy. He finished the appointment by showing me my x-ray, pointing out where the fracture is and telling me a little about how the fracture happened, and why he has come to the decision he has. The Doctor worked quickly, but gave me the impression throughout the appointment that he was completely in control and knew what he was looking for. He was very friendly and engaged with both me and my partner, who was in the room. It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to provide feedback for this doctor, and I am happy to tell his future patients that I think you’re in safe hands.
