On Thursday 22nd August 2019, I was hit by a car whilst riding my motorcycle through South London. An ambulance was called and I was rushed off to Mayday Hospital in Croydon. Unfortunately, the car had crushed my left leg between them and my bike, which in turn knocked me to the ground. At the hospital, I had to wait about 7 hours for an x-ray, which showed absolutely nothing even though, I was in excruciating pain. On the Friday, I used my private healthcare and got put in contact with Spire St.Anthony's Hospital. On Tuesday I met Mr Sharif. If I could sum up Mr Sharif in 3 words - Professional, Friendly and an absolute Gentleman. I explained what had happened and within minutes, I was sent for several MRI scans of my leg. On Wednesday, I met with Mr Sharif again, who explained my prognosis. I had a fracture in my foot, my knee and a torn cartilage, which required surgery. Due to the aggressive nature of the injuries, Mr Shatif explained that it would not be beneficial to operate until the swelling and bruising had calmed down. Mr Sharif took me down to the physio department and requested I be given an 'Air Boot' to make my recovery as comfortable as possible. This boot was 100% better than the boot that A&E had originally given me. I was also prescribed pain killer medication and told to relax with my leg up. I was signed off work for several months to aid my recovery. A couple of weeks pass and my leg becomes even more painful day by day. I start panicking and make another appointment with Mr Sharif and he again immediately sends me for another MRI to find out what's happening. It's quite late in the day and the radiologist had to leave, but I had another appointment with Mr Sharif the next day to review the results. However, within a couple of hours I recieve a phone call from Mr Sharif, who explained that I needed to get to A&E immediately as the scan showed that I had a blood clot in my leg. If it wasn't for Mr Sharif, I would have been none the wiser and I dread to think what would have happened if these weren't found and dealt with quickly. Fast forward to December, I am off the anticoagulants and my knee and foot have healed nicely. I have full movement and seeing the physio weekly to rebuild my strength. I am ready for my operation, a knee arthroscopy and in time to return to work in January. Mr Sharif treated me as if I was the only patient he was seeing and that I was all that mattered, but it was the week before Christmas and all the surgery rooms were fully booked. Mr Sharif did not stop until I had the surgery booked in and a whole team to look after me. On 23rd December 2019, I had my surgery and it was handled so well. I was awake for the whole thing and chatting away to Mr Sharif and his colleagues and watched the whole thing on a screen, the only thing missing was the popcorn. I felt so comfortable on the operating table (maybe because of the drugs) but it was a good experience for what it was. Mr Sharif absolutely went above and beyond for me and showed the upmost professionalism along with a superb amount of knowledge which kept me calm throughout the whole ordeal. He stayed in touch with me the whole time and made sure that I knew I could contact him on his mobile at any time day and night. I cannot express enough how highly I recommend Mr Sharif. I first came to Mr Sharif angry, stressed and in shock and the moment I met him, I calmed down and realised I was in good hands. Following the operation, the aftercare was brilliant and 6 weeks later, I have been fully discharged and you'd never even notice the two small surgery scars I have on my knee. Mr Sharif is a fantastic orthopaedic Surgeon who is very patient and thorough and is clearly one of the top specialists in the country.
