I have been a patient of Mr Gnanalingham's for over four years. In that time, I have experienced an unparalleled level of care that has saved my spine and my life. I first met Mr Gnanalingham when I had been experiencing intense nerve pain in my right leg for several years; this nerve pain was due to a sizeable nerve sheath tumour in my spine. He successfully removed the tumour and also fitted a metal cage for spinal support. I was initially incredibly worried about the operation, as I was sure that there would be complications due to the size of the tumour and its positioning in my spine. To my delight, I recovered very quickly and experienced minimal nerve pain and damage after my surgery. Despite the severity of the surgery, you would not be able to tell that I ever had a problem with my spine, which speaks to his sheer skill and professionalism. In addition to the success of the operation, I must also speak of Mr Gnanalingham's personal manner. From my first appointment prior to surgery, he was friendly and supportive, reassuring both me and my family. While I was in surgery, his team updated my family; while I was coming round from my operation, he personally reassured my family, which I know that they really appreciated. Throughout my stay in the ICU, he checked up on me and made sure I was comfortable. He was also very supportive when I was beginning to find my stay in hospital overwhelming. In the years after my surgery, I have seen him for scans and check up appointments. I'm always met with a friendly and reassuring smile. I have confidence that this level of care is experienced by all patients of his, and I cannot recommend him enough. He is now somewhat of a legend in my family!
