I was diagnosed with a Colloid Cyst using a private service through my health insurance provide AXA. I had an MRI scan on Wed 18th Jan 2023, at Spire Shawfair, Edinburgh using the mobile MRI unit. That day I was called by the consultant radiologist and asked to attend A + E at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, to see the on call neurosurgeon. When I met Mr Kandasamy, he was able to explain the diagnosis properly and the resulting symptoms I had been experiencing for the 6 months previous, he also explained the possible options and outcomes very clearly. I underwent surgery - endoscopic resection on Friday 20th January 2023 (Department of Clinicla Neurosciences at RIE). When I awoke that afternoon, I knew exactly where I was and what had happened. Mr Kandasamy was present and explained that the surgery had gone well, before I was taken to an HDU ward for overnight observation. I was discharged on Monday afternoon 23rd January for recovery at home. I was signed off work for 10 weeks by my GP. Mr Kandasamy answered my questions that I, and members of my family had via his NHS secretary during my recovery, which was very reassuring. He also wrote a letter to assist with my correspondence with the DVLA regarding keeping my driving license. (I had to stop driving for 6 months and notify the DVLA of the surgery) I attended the DCN again at the Royal Infirmaty of Edinburgh for follow up MRI scan May 2023. I received a letter explainign that the scan showed a successful surgery. 10/11 months on, December 2023, I have had an outpatient appointment this morning with Mr Kandasamy, and he has explained that the resection was successful and he managed complete removal. I won't need to have yearly MRI scans on this basis. I would like to thank Mr Kandasamy again, for his great care and communication throughout. I would highly recommend Mr Kandasamy to anyone going through something similar.
