I have met this doctor several times, three times within the year and as a trauma patient a decade ago.. He is undoubtedly a pleasant man. First time I met him after a serious injury awaiting surgery he simply scared me witless with the potential horrific outcome of my surgery, I was fortunate and had successful surgery with another doctor the next day. More recently I found I wasn't heard when I spoke and his explanations of the problem hard to understand, hopping to and fro with many possibilities, but nothing definite. If a doctor sits and brainstorms when a patient is present its uncomfortable for the patient. Surely a consultant can at least give the impression they know what they are talking about. Being pleasant is not enough to recommend the doctor..

Response from Mr Jonathan Jones

Thank you for your helpful feedback from an unusually onerous all day clinic last week and I apologise that I did not provide a more coherent and understandable explanation for your symptoms. In addition I note that previously you were unsettled when hearing the risks and benefits of surgery explained. On that point It is my professional responsibility to provide informed Consent. Finally as regards " brainstorming". I do spend a long time with patients and try to ensure they are fully informed. Occasionally, when the diagnosis is not clear, I explain fully the possibilities, but may not be able to provide any answers or solutions and I try to do this in a caring and considerate way. I am sorry that I unsettled you and that I did not meet your expectations that day.
