I am writing to express my gratitude to Mr. Phadnis and how impressed and lucky I have been being his patient over the past 3 years.   I was living in kent and I had a bad fall in 2009 which left me with an elbow fracture.  My radial head had been that badly damaged my only option was a metal implant. 2 years after this operation I was still having severe pain.  I was referred to other consultants in my area and had 2 more operations to see what the problem was.  Unfortunately, no other doctor could understand why I was in so much pain and I was referred to the royal national orthopedic hospital under Mr. Simon Lambert.  He was amazing but due to other medical problems, I was facing he could not operate.  He was puzzled why I was having so much pain. and eventually, he did operate and decided the implant was too big and needed to be taken out.  He couldn't get all the implant out as it had embedded in my arm.  After this operation i was still in a lot of pain and due to other illnesses, divorce and relocating to Hove with my 2 children, I dealt with arm by taking pain killers daily.  I was still under Mr lambert's care but traveling to Stanmore was impossible and then I was informed Mr Lambert was no longer a consultant at the hospital.  I carried on with the pain and eventually got a referral to a consultant at a worthing hospital. He was puzzled why I was in pain and he referred me to Mr. Phadnis.  I didn't have much faith as so many other consultants didn't know what to do, how wrong I was.  Mr. Phadnis took on my case and for once I felt someone understood that I was in pain and he wanted to help.  Mr. Phadnis studied all my medical history,  personally conferred with Mr. Lambert about the history of my elbow, referred me to a hand consultant and most of all gave me hope.  My case is rare and before Mr. Phadnis, I thought my only option was to have prosthetic half elbow but the pain I felt, I daily wished that i could get my arm amputated.  His approach to my case made me confident he was going to help me get pain free.  My operation wasn't textbook and Mr. Phadnis performed a difficult operation clearing out my elbow of all implant and inserting a skin graph. I had complete trust with him as after many consultations and investigations we went ahead with surgery in Jan 2019.  The surgery went well and I was very happy how neat and tidy my scar is.  I needed time to recover and with physiotherapy and instructions from Mr. Phadnis, I am now pain-free in my elbow.  I have just had my first x-ray since my operation with him and I'm so happy to see that the operation was a complete success and everything he did is working as he said it would.  This was my last appointment with Mr. Phadnis and as much I am happy I won't need to see him again he has reassured me that if I have any problems i must not hesitate to contact him.   I can not express just how much this operation and being under the care of a doctor that listened, understood and didn't give up on me has changed my life.  for the first time in 10 years, I feel like I can do things I never thought I could do again.  I still have work to do on my hand but this is nothing to do with my elbow and Mr. Phadnis has kindly spoken to my hand consultant about me. After many bad experiences and after nearly giving up all hope my faith is restored and that is definitely down to the amount of care and attention Mr. Phadnis has given me.
