I had surgery in March 2016 to remove my gall bladder. I consider myself very lucky that the surgeon was Mr John Loy, he is a very warm friendly caring man, with an excellent bedside manner. Being a very nervous patient, this operation really seemed like a big deal to me. During the initial consultation, Mr Loy carefully and professionally explained (with diagrams) what was happening with my gall bladder and how he would treat it. I was made fully aware of the probability of possible complications, so that I could make an informed choice whether to go ahead with the surgery. This honesty really helped to reassure me. A few days later, I found I had more questions, and so I contacted Mr Loy via his secretary and received a response the very same day - so no sleepless nights of worrying for me :-) On the day of the surgery, I felt (unusually) calm, and I believe this is because I was so well informed and I had every confidence in Mr Loy. He came to see me before I went down to theatre, and again the following morning. The warm calm reassuring nature of this man is wonderful. My advice to anybody facing surgery, is if Mr John Loy is your surgeon, then go ahead because you will receive the best quality care. I have made what I consider to be a speedy recovery, and 3 weeks later I am feeling great. I really owe a great debt of gratitude to this man for making this process straightforward with little anxiety as possible. Mr John Loy really is a credit to the profession.
