After suffering with an extremely painful arm/shoulder this year (2021) I arranged to see Mr Geoghegan to find out what was happening. He very rapidly diagnosed acute frozen shoulder and recommended arthroscopic release of same. This was performed within three weeks of initial visit. I was most impressed with Mr Geoghegan's professionalism and his understanding of the condition. This wasn't a simple ache it was excruciatingly painful, he understood what it was like and wanted to assist as soon as possible. During the procedure I was shown a screen of what was inside my shoulder and was given a running commentary about what I was seeing and what was being done. This helped enormously as I could build up a mental image of how things were and would be to assist recovery. I was impressed by attention to the patient (me!) during this time. After the procedure I was taken into recovery where Mr Geoghegan wrote up the notes before his next patient and asked if I had any other questions. I tried to think of some but what with my arm being completely numb and just having undergone a procedure my mind was blank and I had difficulty remembering anything said. I don't know how to make this better however, as Mr Geoghegan has other patients to attend to, so perhaps more of a attendant nurse thing? I had very strict instructions from Mr Geoghegan that I was to focus on my physiotherapy and to continue with it. This was the correct advice and I did so. I saw Mr Geoghegan again after three months and he again was attentive and answered all of my questions. A short while later I received a copy of the letter he dictated to my GP. Overall I was impressed with Mr Geoghegan's attentiveness and depth of knowledge. He was confident in his diagnosis and work and his skill has meant I can now sleep throughout the night which was a major issue for me (sometimes 1.5h/night).
