In my early 40’s I was diagnosed with otosclerosis after struggling hearing for sometime, I had surgery on my right ear back in 2017 with a different surgeon in my home town. It was a success but recovery was slow, I was sick after general anaesthetic and it put me off having my left ear done. I researched and found that Jeremy was the best in his field within travelling distance. I’ve waited 6/7 years as my primary care trust sent me to every hospital in Essex that do the surgery but always under general. I begged my GP to refer me to Jeremy Lavy. She did. I’m pleased to say surgery was done yesterday. From start to finish Jeremy and his team have been amazing. I managed to get to Grafton Way building in London even with a train strike, once I got there and realised I was last on surgical list, I told of my concerns getting last train home as they were only running one an hour and last one was 21:15 they bumped me up knowing I had a restricted train time to meet. The team kept me informed and looked after me so well. I had surgery at 16:15 and was home having a cuppa at 21:00. During surgery Jeremy asked if I could hear him and I heard him! Today, the next morning- I am feeling bright, well and so excited. I hope Jeremy and his team know how life changing this is, no more hearing aids, being able to join in conversations freely, being able to hear low tone of my hubby and son’s voices without consistently saying “pardon” “ what did you say” My surgery was done in the Grafton way building which was state of the art. Thanks Jeremy and team @Royal national ENT and Eastman dental hospital
