Mr Chandrasenan 's first consultation with myself took place at Ayleston Medical Centre where he confirmed that I had severe arthritis of my left hip. He gave me options of steroid therapy ,or a total hip replacement. After a discussion we decided that the best way forward was to go for the hip replacement. Mr Chandrasenan informed me of the mechanics of the operation and what to expect, this put me at ease after what after all is quite a major operation. I was given a date for the operation approximately . 6 weeks after the consultation, unfortunately this had to be postponed for a further 6 weeks . However I was kept updated of the upcoming date. After a pre op appointment at Barlbourough hospital I was given the go ahead. I attended the hospital on the morning of the operation and was greeted by very friendly staff. Mr Chandrasenan visited me just prior to the operation and again discussed the procedure. He then proceeded to draw a big arrow on left hip pointing out to where the op site was going to happen. Mr Chandrasenan has a very friendly, open personality which instills confidence. During the operation I did not have a general anaesthetic as Mr Chandrasenan pointed out would have prolonged the recovery period. After the operation I was placed in the recovery area where I cared for by great nursing staff. In no time I was back on the ward with tea and toast with no after effects as you have with General anaesthesia. Mr Chandrasenan visited me on the ward afterwards and advised that everything had gone to plan . He informed me that he would make a follow up appointment in the near future . I was up and about immediately after the operation and encouraged to be active and given Physiotherapy . I was discharged from the hospital and back in the comfort of my own home after just an overnight stay. I have been followed up by a local physiotherapist and after just 3 visits have been discharged. I have been to see Mr Chandrasenan today who greeted me with a wide smile and a handshake. After a chat and checking out my mobility Mr Chandrasenan was happy with my progress and was happy to discharge me . I am more than happy to recommend Mr Chandrasenan I will never forget him, as I am now,' once again pain free. Thank you
