I have had a gall bladder removal surgery by laparoscopy by Mr Deguara in New Victoria Hospital in February 2019. I had a history of symptomatic gall stones for over a year but due to personal circumstances was hoping that I can go through with the conservative approach and avoid an operation. Unfortunately, it was a problem that would not go away and after several consultations and diagnostic tests (and another admission to A&E) I decided to take a plunge. It was my first ever major operation and I appreciate very much the patience that Mr Deguara showed in explaining all about what to expect, what can go wrong and why it is important to make this decision. I felt that I can ask any question, however trivial it might sound and he would calmly answer, even if it felt that I only needed reassurance. He is very attentive and I really liked that he dictated the summary of the consultation straight after so I could hear that he recorded all my symptoms and concerns to the letter. I decided to go as a private patient to have more control over the time scale of the operation and the operating surgeon - I had total trust in Mr Deguara. Operation went well and care during my overnight stay in New Victoria Hospital was amazing. I do not hesitate in recommending Mr Deguara and, although do hope that I would not need any more operations, I would not hesitate to consult him again if the need arises.
