My operation was for Dupuytren's contracture on my left-hand ring finger. At the first meeting Mr Warner was pleasant enough but I felt the presentation of my options was rather cold and black&white. Maybe a technique to determine the patient's commitment. By the time of the operation my contraction was quite severe and Mr Warner would have preferred a general anaesthetic, however he accepted my request for local anaesthetic. I felt Mr Warner was most empathetic on the day of the operation and this gave me confidence in the process. I felt it was a long and hard operation (2 hours) for Mr Warner, but he did a good job with a difficult contraction. For me the operation itself was a pleasant experience (if that can be said of an operation!). Being conscious throughout I was able to talk with Mr Warner and his assistants. However, the first follow-up appointment I felt was a little rushed and I didn't feel I had the opportunity for free discussion. My final appointment, after substantial healing, was more relaxed and I felt I could converse freely with Mr Warner. I would like to thank Mr Warner (and his team) for carrying out the operation and achieving good a result which has been very enabling for my life and interests.
