My selection of surgeon was led by; - a general trawl of the internet and comparisons of outcomes for hospitals and their senior consultants experience in knee surgery, - geographical accessibility in the UK south-east , - accessibility of Mr. Lewis himself and/or through his personal secretary and the sense of approachability and lack of medical jargon in this access. - a distinct understanding from Mr. Lewis that my physical and mental medium and long term objectives for my right knee (to be able to run again for example) were also his. The milestones in recover from the operation (in terms of joint mobility such as when I could expect to driving safely and what pain might be associate with the recovery were acceptable to me, indeed I thought a little optimistic at first. On the contrary, I was able to safely walk without any artificial aid, frame or stick within 3 days of the surgery and within 3 weeks of it I was able to walk up and down stairs normally albeit with aid of the handrail. since my operation only some 3.5 weeks ago, the actual early recovery signs are that
