After an MRI scan at my local hospital I was referred by my doctor to see Mr Bourne at Preston in November 2019 After an ex ray Mr Bourne explained the problem and advised a decompression and spinal fusion surgery (XLIF procedure) I was then asked to go home and think about the surgery (no pressure!!!!!) Mr Bourne saw me again in January 2020,I told him I would go ahead with the procedure Then of course the Pandemic hit After quite a long wait I was admitted to Euston Hall Hospital on the 7th January 2021 I was very nervous and apprehensive NO WORRIES what so ever All the staff from reception, nurses, anesthetist especially Mr Bourne were all brilliant. Mr Bourne came to see me after my surgery and said everything had gone ok I was discharged the following day Went to see Mr Bourne four weeks later, he showed me my ex ray and said everything looked fine I am now virtually pain free and cannot thank everyone enough.

Response from Mr James Bourne

It was great to see you back after your surgery, and see how well you were. XLIF isn't suitable for everyone, as there are lots of considerations to it, and your op was challenging because of your marked spondylolisthesis. If we had done a more traditional operation, your recovery would not have been so quick. I'm sorry you had to wait so long for the op, I have been working hard to try and reduce my waiting list at LTH Trust, including performing surgery such as yours at Euxton Hall Hospital, where I have been supported by the team there to perform XLIF surgery. I'm really glad that you felt well looked after, and thanks for taking the time to post a review. Best wishes, J
