Although Mr Khan is without a doubt is a very nice man and he explained the procedure (abdominoplasty) when I first began my surgical journey in-depth . Much more so than previous surgeons I had seen .I was impressed by the amount of time he took explaining the procedure and all the pictures he showed me etc and I went ahead with the surgery . Within a week I had a complication which they gave me one ultrasound for and that was to be the end of it . I returned and emailed several times regarding the horrendous pain I have now in my upper abdomen resulting from this complication , including a meeting with his boss Gary Ross which went terribly and I was in fact blamed for the pain in any way Mr Ross could think of . I left that day in tears , probably about six months post surgery with this god awful pain I have been left with . Fast forward to the twelve month mark of my surgery , nothing has improved and the pain is ALWAYS there . It affects everyday of my life , from going to the toilet to the clothes I wear . Even clothes hurt my abdomen . Currently I have scans to be had and such like on the NHS since I was refused help by this team and although this surgery was private , I am not in the position to fund further private treatment - and they know this . I am hoping to find out what happened at the site of pain so I can move forward with how to approach sorting it out . The operation itself looks ok if I stand up perfectly straight and arch my back slightly , if I stand normally I still have some of my baby belly left there saggy which is distressing to see as I wanted it all gone . My body shape has changed massively since the surgery , although I had an abdominoplasty I don’t look any thinner , I don’t have a flat tummy unless I make it look so , I still have no confidence because there is still loose skin there and I have been left with severe permanent daily pain which impedes on my life . I need scar revision surgery without a doubt , but it really is not made clear that any further corrections that may be needed or tests for anything that may be a problem will be funded by yourself . So please bear in mind the cost of this surgery is not a one cost thing . If you need ANY further work doing to obtain the result you were hoping for but , did not get , then you need to have the money to support this . Otherwise you will , like me , have paid a large sum of money for a result you are not happy with and I assure you , you will not get anywhere when you go back . This surgery should be thought long and hard about , you should explore ALL potential costs and they should be made clear to you BEFORE the surgery . And you really need to have back up cash to pay for any tests you made need should a complication arise or like me you will be relying on the NHS to sort out what you can’t afford to fix through no fault of your own . Buyer beware , do your research , read all the small print . Do not expect a miracle, especially if you needed one like I did . When you go for your check ups , stand normally , don’t arch your back or stretch up . Stand as you normally would so any loose skin can be seen . I cannot cast aspersions on this surgeon as a person because he really is a nice person , but surgically as part of a team with Gary Ross , I would not have gone ahead with the surgery had I known I would be left in such severe pain , unhappy with my results and the way I was treated when I asked for help . Please make sure you are aware you need more money than the cost of this surgery and having such a major surgery could either make you feel worse , not be what you expected or change your life forever and not the way you wanted . Research and knowledge are your friend . Read your rights before you go through with anything , understand what aftercare you will receive should anything be wrong afterwards . If you struggle at all mentally , get help with reading through everything because these things really are not made clear enough as far as I’m concerned . I cannot fault the Alexandra in any way shape or form , the care I received before and after at this hospital was excellent and if you decide to have ANY surgery not just what I had , I do recommend having it at this particular hospital . The staff were just amazing .
